A fashion, beauty and lifestyle destination for people short on time.

The start of the new term, which coincides usually with a new season, always leaves us feeling all the feels. Will the kids be happy, will we all settle into the routine quickly enough, will I make it to work on time from drop off?? And of course, what do I wear?! Here are 3 things that make my life easier, and make the morning multitasking mayhem work a little more smoothly.

1.Steamer: Let’s not kid ourselves, we don’t have time to take out the ironing board and find the iron in the morning, in amongst the usual pre- school bedlam. A quick wizz of a steamer will do the job and make you look presentable enough for people to think you’ve got your sh*t together. No opportunity to burn a hole in your favourite shirt – You just fill it with water so if a splodge ends up on your clothes it’ll dry pretty quickly – no burns possible.

I’ve tried them all over the years – from full size standing steamers, to mini travel steamers. This one from Cadrim is great, and at a great price point. I’ve used it for a couple of years now and it has never failed me.

2. Sweatshirts: There are sweatshirts, and there there are “cool sweatshirts.” And the cool ones will instantly turn your outfit into less “leggings and a jumper” and more “I’m wearing a styled outfit.” Requirements for a cool sweater involves embroidered or stitched on slogans, rather than printed slogans, a tight fit crew neck, rather than any that are even slightly loose around the neck.

3. Loafers: Need to slip something on and run out the door pronto without having to think about if they work with the outfit? You need yourself some loafers. They go with all of your denim shapes, your wide leg trousers and also work with dresses/skirts and tights. They will instantly pull the outfit together and make it look smarter than it probably is – your old jeans that you leave on your ‘chairdrobe’ and a white t-shirt that may have a little hole in it? Just add loafers. Easy as that! And if you have a few spare moments, pop on a necklace and a belt.
