Here’s everything going on in the beauty world right now. From the three billion dollar brand, to the chic beauty and interiors collab & the latest power ingredients, this is your June update…
Incase you missed it, Rhode – the beauty brand created by Hayley Bieber a mere 3 years ago – was just bought by ELF Cosmetics for $3 billion. I’ve always been loyal to cream blusher but this one knocks the spots off the others. ‘Freckle’ is that elusive perfect shade – not too pink, not too red, just a soft bronzy flush that lifts the whole face. I paid £7 in shipping fees when it first launched but rumour has it, from autumn you’ll be able to buy it direct from Sephora in the UK.
THE PRODUCT CAUSING A DROP IN LIP FILLER BOOKINGS
Charlotte Tilburys ‘Lip Cheat’ Contour Duo is a dual-sided lip liner with two blendable formulas: you use them in tandem – the deeper ‘Sculpt’ shade to contour and overline and the lighter ‘Fill’ shade to fill the central area of the lips. The pencils glide over my lips easily – zero uncomfortable drag – and each ‘Sculpt’ and ‘Fill’ shade blends seamlessly into each other to create that 3D, believable-looking fuller lip.
JO MALONE LONDON x LITTLE GREENE
In the words of Chandler Bing, could this BE anymore perfect for me. Five of the fragrance brands best-sellers have been re-housed in five of the paint brands best-selling shades. As you all know, I’ve colour drenched my entire house in Little Greene Paint (Slaked Lime 105) with various other shades elsewhere (Woad, Masquerade, Jack Black) so the fact they’ve collaborated with my forever favourite Jo Malone London, the brand that I wore on my wedding day, that means so much to me, couldn’t be more perfect. I just don’t know which one to go for.
NEW INGREDIENT ALERT: “OMNI-ANTIOXIDANT”
An “omni antioxidant” is a type of anti-oxidant that is effective against a broad range of free-radicals. It’s derived from ginger and is known for its ability to neutralize multiple of these harmful molecules, thus having a positive effect on wrinkles, skin tone, and hyperpigmentation. The first brand to market is Medik8, using it as a booster in their latest Vitamin C product.
THE TIK TOK TREND THAT REALLY WORKS
TikTok convinced me I needed hypochlorous acid in my life – an antibacterial, skin-soothing powerhouse that calms irritation, zaps breakouts and strengthens your barrier all at once. Skin experts actually recommend using it to fight common bacterial skin problems like acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Soft, gentle and anti-inflammatory, Mario Badescu Repairing Facial Spray, £14, with Hypochlorous Acid is an easy mist skin calms visible redness and blitzes impurities without stripping it. which, for my skin’s general unpredictability, it’s been a total lifesaver. The easiest way to use is to spritz over skin post-cleansing, morning and night, or to swipe it over skin on a cotton pad. I try to remember to use it on my body if I’ve had a spot or an in-grown hair crop up.
