A flick of black eyeliner is our signature look. We both feel totally naked without it and have been wearing it for years so we pretty much have it down to a fine art. These days we’re even able to do it with a babe balanced on our knee.
Sam’s tried and tested pretty much all of them over the years (perk of the job) while Gemma has always been loyal to her fave – they’re both at opposite ends of the price spectrum so we thought we’d share them with you, incase you were on the look out for a new one.
INSIDE OUR EYELINER WARDROBE
1 // Tom Ford Eye Defining Pen:Pricy, yes but theres a reason why it’s Sam’s absolute swear by. Whereas some cheaper options go grey and fade, this stays inky black and last’s forever (or at least a year, as thats how long Sams had it), the double ended nib makes it perfect for novices or pros (Sam uses the long end and just lays it across her lash line for easy, fool proof cats eye) and well, it’s super chic.
2 // Mac Eye Pencil in Smoulder: If you prefer a kohl over a liquid, this is our fave. It’s black, and we mean black. The soft, creamy nib glides easily along the lid and doesn’t drag like others do, it smudges softly for that smoky smoulder and then stays put for the rest of the day. If you prefer brown liner to black, this liner in the shade Teddy is a Beauty Ed fave.
3 // Rimmel London Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner: Gemma has been using this for years and years. Nothing sways her from this easy-to-use nib which she describes as, ‘like a paintbrush’. A cult classic in the beauty industry, it’s the best option for those first mornings at nursery (we feel you) as it’s waterproof and smudge-resistant and lasts ALL day. So at least you don’t have to worry about your liner smudging.
4 // Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner: If you’re a fan of a pot n’ pen approach, or you find a liquid liner a bit too fiddly, then this is your best bet. For some reason, the paintbrush format gives you a bit more control than the traditional liquid liner felt pens. Widely considered to be one of the best liners available, it goes on smoothly, despite its slightly firm texture. The finish is on the matte side, making it great for day time.
6 // Clarins 3 Dot Liner: Total liquid eyeliner virgin? Then let the Clarins 3-Dot Liner guide you to a perfect finish. The unique three-prong tip means you can stamp it on the outer corner to get the shape of the flick and then just fill in the gaps. Voila, perfect flick.
