Oh this weather! We moan about wanting sun and then it arrives and we have nothing to wear, and moan about being too hot. Do not panic! Today is all about the simple summer dresses. But we don’t want you to go and spend money on something you will only wear throughout the next two weeks. All these dresses are multi-tasking and can be worn with trainers/sandals in the day and then dressed up in the evening for a night out, or even a wedding. They are all light and airy so you will barely feel them on you.
{The out out version of our dresses – Sam added heels for a wedding, and I added lace up heeled boots and a denim jacket for dinner}
I love this pale pink dress from
Where the knot is situated helps to elongate my legs (which always need elongating!) If pink isn’t your colour then it also comes in navywhich is a safe colour that suits most skin tones. I’ve dressed it up with some lace up boot heels to counterbalance the prettiness of the dress, but day to day I just add my trainers.
Sam is wearing a star print dress from Topshop. The print has just sold out but it also comes in a really pretty floral print. It’s a great multi-tasker as this can also be thrown over a bikini on the beach, it works for breastfeeding or you could add some metallic heels and a raffia clutch and wear it to a wedding.
{For a day look Sam added trainers, and I wore mine layered with a grey T shirt}
Check out the selection below, including this from Nobodys Child which can pull your, ahem, saggy mum boobs together with the adjustable tie. Or this beautiful magnolia print dress from Warehousewhich has been reduced from £80 to £40 and has a flattering side ruffle to hide a mum tum. I’ve got the jumpsuitand worn it to death! I love a jumpsuit, and this one is particularly light and airy. Go down a size as it comes up huge (it’s also on sale.)
If you like a bold print and some structure then this H&M dress is for you. Thisleopard dress is a great option for preggos and this & Other Stories dress ticks all the boxes – timeless, nipped in waist, you can wear a bra and its only £45. Most of these have easy boob access for breastfeeders. Add a belt if you want more shape, and add a blazer if you want to dress it up for work.
