Last months red lipstick post went down a treat with you all. We’re now imagining loads of you out there on the school run, sunglasses on with Smashbox Always On Matte Lipstick in Bawse (Gemma’s fave) or Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Red Square (Sam’s fave) on your lips, firmly tricking the world into thinking that you have everything under control.
But, we had messages from some of you saying that as much as you loved the red lip look, it was a bit bold for you. So today we are bringing you an easier summer colour to wear for lipstick beginners. Meet coral, it’s your new best friend.
From peachy, nude tones to more orangey, bold colours, unlike red lipsticks, coral shades don’t have saturated blue or red undertones, so they warm and brighten every skin tone. They look even better with a tan making them perfect for taking on holiday for those post-beach evenings. Who says you can’t dress up just because your evening revolves around the kids club activities?!
To keep it looking modern and fresh, ditch dark eyeshadows, and heavy liner. Just team with mascara and some tinted brow gel. This is my fave.
With bold shades, especially orange, smudging and fading are more noticeable so skip glossy formulas that can slip off your lips. Instead, go for a matte finish like thisCharlotte Tilbury lipstick.
Here is my edit of the best coral lipsticks out there – for all budgets and levels of lipstick skill:
