So this is summer! Hasn’t it been a lovely few days?!! As much as we always want it to be summer, when it suddenly arrives we never feel fully prepared (and we moan about being too hot…) I don’t know about you but I’m too pasty to just whip out my legs! So a spray tan always needs to be booked, and then a rummage in my wardrobe is required. I have few key summer pieces that I bring out every year, but I tend to get over excited and purchase some new bits. This week I’ve been partiuclarly drawn to anything navy.
Navy often gets overlooked but it’s so chic. It’s a non-scary alternative to black (hurrah!) and generally suits most skintones/hair colours (but in particular, red heads.) Add a polka dot to it to make it more playful, like we have below.
This Topshop skirt (SAY WHAT! A MUM IN A SKIRT!) that I’m wearing goes with everything I already wear (simple t’s, leather or denim jackets and trainers) but it’s a change from my usual jeans. There is no reason why you can’t get your legs out now that the wear is hotting up, and puh-lease ignore anyone who says it isn’t ‘mum’ appropriate. Just because you had a baby doesn’t mean you lose the right to dress how you want!
Sam has opted for cropped wide leg trousers in a lightweight fabric from Topshop{update: her navy pair sold out, these are the black version.} These are a perfect alternative to denim as they are much looser so won’t leave you peeling your trousers off in the evening. Paired with this Mangocute white frill blouse and she’s ready for summer whilst still feeling super comfortable.

Sam is wearing White Top: Mango// Culottes: Topshop// Shoes: Converse
Gemma is wearing Denim jacket: Levis// Skirt: Topshop// Shoes: Adidas
If you aren’t quite sure about how you transition from your Autumn version of your mum uniform (avo smeared jeans and a t shirt) to the Summer version then have a scroll through the below options.
This dress from H&M is a total winner for most body shapes. – the most flattering shape (pinch you in at the waist and then flares out to hide whatever you want hidden.) Plus the v-neck draws the eye down which elongates your body. Dress it up with heels and a thin waist belt, or down with Converse.
Preggos, this oneis for you. Simple, comfy and £12.99.
Breastfeeders, this from H&M is really cute. It’s ruched at the sides which is super flattering and has easy access so you don’t need to whack out your boobs in public if you don’t fancy it. Plus, the top part is double layered so no one will notice if your boobs leak 🙂
